Bond amount may have surprised woman charged with drug crimes

Some people may not be aware at how high bond is sometimes set when a person is charged with a drug-related crime in Florida. This appears to be the case for one particular woman who is currently facing several charges for drug crimes in this state. The situation recently unfolded as part of an extensive investigation.

Shipmates detained in Florida for suspected drug crimes

A sailing expedition on the high seas in the Caribbean was brought to a halt in a surprising turn of events on a recent Monday. The U.S. Coast Guard was involved in the situation and helped in the apprehension of several drug smugglers. The vessel in question was brought to a U.S. Coast Guard base in Florida and at least five shipmates were removed from the boat and detained on suspicion of drug crimes.

Last time, we began looking at the exclusionary rule and the protections it can offer to defendants in criminal cases where prosecutors attempt to introduce evidence which was obtained from or as a result of illegal searches and seizures.
